BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – April 30, 2013— B.A.S.S. will host the Alabama River Charge presented by Star brite, May 9 – 12, on the Alabama River in Montgomery, Ala., the fifth of eight Bassmaster Elite Series professional bass fishing tournaments scheduled in 2013.
One hundred of the top bass anglers in the world will compete for a $100,000 prize and coveted entry into the 2014 Bassmaster Classic to be held in Birmingham, Ala., with fishing on Lake Guntersville. Among the field of competitors will be fishing legend Kevin VanDam, 2013 Bassmaster Classic Champion Cliff Pace and 16 Alabama anglers.
From watching the first boats launch at 6:30 a.m. on Thurs., May 9, and the final weigh-in at the Montgomery Riverfront on Sunday at 3:15 p.m., to participating in the family-friendly Elite Series Expo, the activities planned throughout the weekend are free and open to the public, including:
Thurs., May 9 – Fri., May 10
6:30 a.m. The full field of anglers launch at Montgomery Riverfront Park. Public launch viewing is available from Montgomery Riverfront Park.
3:15 p.m. Official weigh-in takes place both days at Montgomery Riverfront Park Amphitheatre.
Sat., May 11
6:30 a.m. The Top 50 anglers launch for semi-finals of the Alabama River Charge.
12 p.m. – 6 p.m. Elite Series Expo.
3:15 p.m. Official semi-finals weigh-in begins at the Montgomery Riverfront Union Station Train Shed.
Sun., May 12
6:30 a.m. The Top 12 anglers launch for the final day of Alabama River Charge competition.
12 p.m. – 6 p.m. Elite Series Expo
3:15 p.m. Official final weigh-in for the 2013 Alabama River Charge winner starts at the Montgomery Riverfront Union Station Train Shed.
The Elite Series Expo will have B.A.S.S. sponsor representatives on site throughout the weekend with activities, games and prizes for attendees. Companies like Mercury, Nitro, Skeeter, Triton, and Yamaha will be offering demo rides and have booths at the Expo. Toyota, Carhartt, Berkley, Minn Kota, Humminbird, Livingston Lures, Lowrance, Power-Pole, Shimano and Luck “E” Strike, will also have booths at the Expo.
Other activities planned throughout the Alabama River Charge weekend include a casting competition and demo presented by Shimano and the Toyota Torque Pull. Fans will also have the opportunity for angler autograph and photo sessions, and learning tips and techniques from some of the best bass anglers in the world.
